- Conceptual design We always start with the requirements gathering and then first coming up the conceptual data model, so we understand at high level what are the different entities in our data and how they relate to one another.
- Logical design After the conceptual design is finalized we then move on to the logical data model, so we understand the details of the data without worrying about how they will be actually implemented. This gives us a very good understanding on the fields and relations.
- Physical (or technical) design After the logical design is finalized we finally start with the physical data model, so we know exactly how to implement our data model in the database of choice by our recommendation or suggested by the customer.
